Common questions

How do I play?
Place lamps on the grid. Each lamp shines along its row and column until a black wall stops it. You've solved the board when every white square is lit, no lamp shines on another lamp, and every numbered wall has exactly that many lamps directly beside it (up, down, left, right). Tap a square to place a lamp; tap again to mark it as a square you know stays dark.

What do the numbers on the walls mean?
A numbered wall tells you exactly how many lamps must sit in the squares directly touching it. A "0" means none of its neighbours can hold a lamp. The numbers are the main clues you reason from.

Do I ever have to guess?
No. Every puzzle has exactly one solution that can be reached by logic alone. If you're stuck, mark the squares you know must stay dark — narrowing the options usually reveals the next lamp.

How do board size and difficulty relate?
They're independent. Size ranges from 6×6 to 9×9; difficulty ranges from Easy to Expert. You can pick an easy 9×9 to unwind or a hard 6×6 to be tested — any combination is allowed.

Can I change the language?
Yes — in Settings → Language. Quiet Lights is fully translated into fifteen languages.

I missed yesterday's daily — can I play it now?
No. Daily puzzles are tied to the calendar day in your local time zone, and there is no archive of past dailies. Practice mode lets you play unlimited boards of any size and difficulty whenever you like.

How do I mute the music or sound effects?
Tap the music or sound icon in the header on the Home screen. Settings → Audio also has separate toggles plus volume sliders.

How do I reset my stats?
Settings → Data → Reset stats. This is permanent — there's no cloud backup, so once you reset, the data is gone.

I have a feature idea.
Send it via email, or use Settings → Send feedback in the app — feedback shapes what comes next.
